At Victor, we’re dedicated to fostering positive change in our communities through a variety of impactful programs and services. Our programs are designed to support children, youth, families, and adults, helping them to build stronger relationships and healthier lives.

One of our programs, The Nurturing Fathers Program, does this by helping fathers and male caregivers to further their parenting skills and strengthen their family bonds.

About the Nurturing Fathers Program

The Nurturing Fathers Program is designed as a comprehensive 13-week training course. This evidence-based program teaches essential parenting and nurturing skills to men, helping them foster healthy family relationships and positive child development.

The program defines a nurturing father as a man who actively provides guidance, love, and support to enhance the growth and development of the children in his care.

The Nurturing Fathers Program is open to any male figure, including fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and foster dads, who seek to enrich their parenting skills. The program is run by dedicated Victor staff members and the group meets once a week for two hours over the span of 13 weeks.

The goal for the San Bernardino Victor location is to run at least three groups annually and expand their reach by starting a Spanish-speaking group to better serve the diverse community.

A Father's Journey

The impact of the Nurturing Fathers Program is best illustrated through the experiences of the fathers who participate. Rodolfo, a father of three, completed the program in Spring 2024 and shared his transformative journey:

"The Nurturing Fathers Program helped me develop skills that I was missing in my life. As a father of three little ones, raising them has been a learning experience for me. I didn’t know what to expect coming into the program, but I was more than willing to learn and educate myself on how to be the best dad for my children. I want to be there for my children, and this motivated me to attend this class.

This class helped me understand why it’s important to listen to my children, engage with them, and most importantly, guide them through their moments of anger, sadness, and happiness. I am truly thankful to the facilitators who challenged me and educated me on the importance of being a nurturing father.

This class helped me self-reflect on my own childhood and empowered me with the skills and confidence to be a great father to my children. I will forever be grateful for this class and will continue to do the best I can each day to be that amazing, caring, and nurturing father to my wonderful children. Thank you."
